I live in a spacious home in the country nestled into a wooded hill. It’s a pretty charming setting, in my opinion. I have four bedrooms. One room has a california king, one has a queen, and two have full beds. I also have a pack and play for little people, a full futon floor mattress and a couch for overflow available for larger parties. Two small people or 2 kids can fit in the full beds, but those preferences are left up to the guests. There is a full bath upstairs where all bedrooms are located and a full bath on the main living floor.
There are several living areas throughout the main floor, with plenty of space to exist in some manner of privacy while visiting.
I will provide a basic morning meal. If someone has special dietary needs, I’m happy to consider an accommodation. However, if guests feel most comfortable fixing their own meals, guests are welcome to make themselves at home in the kitchen.
I am an introvert, and respect any visitors who like minimal interactions upon arrival. If you prefer less contact, feel free to let me know and I’m more than happy to make myself scarce and leave you unbothered except for when I must (ex: when I need to use the main floor bath and kitchen). I do enjoy hosting, and am more than happy to visit and make my guests feel at home anyway I can.
Our little farm boasts an inside dog, Sadie, with many animals outside. If guests have serious animal allergies, this is not the home for you. If you travel with pets, they are welcome as long as they are friendly to other animals, or you are able to contain them while around said animals. An example of this includes chickens and ducks that occasionally free range throughout the premises and dislike being chased by an excited pup who enjoys a good chase. Leashes are an acceptable choice in this situation. I do not have an enclosed yard, so unless your pet has excellent recall, a leash is always the best option. Our rooster, Leroy, is an excellent alarm clock, so expect to hear him in the morning. The ducks can also be quite vocal which still surprises me, each time I hear them from the house! Guests unacquainted with such a racket might want to bring a sound machine or earplugs.
I work an 8-5 in town, but guests are welcome to arrive and depart without me being home. I don’t mind unconventional check in or out times and am willing to work with each individual guest situation. We are 10 minutes away from regularly opened restaurants and a grocery store. We are 60 miles away from the Kansas City area. There are however many sweet locations within 60 miles that would make nice excursions if so desired.
This would be a great place to unplug from the outside world for a time with the option to utilize our rural internet if needed. Our sunsets our absolutely stunning. I’m sure our sunrises are also spectacular, but my night owl self doesn’t catch many of those stunning moments. When the nights are clear, the stars sparkle and reflect God’s handiwork in the most awe inspiring way. I find that to be the most peaceful time of day. During appropriate seasons, (spring & fall) an evening bonfire is at your disposal, for your enjoyment.
Let me know if you have any questions, I’m happy to accommodate few or multiple guests at a time. If you have a large party, and if people are willing to sleep anywhere, many more than 6 are welcome. Pricing is per room unless overflow is required, then price can be discussed case by case.
