We currently offer a large basement with a double bed, a couch, a Queen-sized air mattress, and some floor space. There is a bathroom down there, that is shared with another long-term houseguest. I set up folding room dividers to provide privacy. We have housed individuals and families of 6 down there with no problem.
There is a separate refrigerator down there, for your use. You can also use the microwave and laundry.
We are empty-nesters, but have grandkid toys and gear (pack n play, highchair.)
Coffee/Tea and a light breakfast included. We are in a quiet Inner-Ring suburb of Chicago, next door to the Brookfield Zoo. You can be downtown in about 30-40 minutes by car or take the nearby BNSF Metra train in about the same time. We are 5 miles south of Concordia University, Chicago, and about a mile from Loyola Medical Center, (perfect for patient-families or Medical students on rotation.) We love our city and enjoy telling folks about it.
We have a small, gentle, non-shedding dog.
No smoking, please.

The Paytons welcomed our family of 8 like is was no big deal. Six young children can be a bit rowdy but the place was warm and full of life….they even recommended some legit Chicago-style pizza. And to top it all off we were able to attend the Divine Service in one of the most beautiful sanctuaries in the United States.
Pastor Payton thank you for faithfully preaching, teaching, and administering the Holy Supper to my family as we passed through.
Mrs. Payton, thank you for being such a kind an gracious hostess.

The most welcoming house in whole Chicago. It was just awesome to stay with Lori and Pastor Payton! A perfect stay, especially for exchange students who are flying in to or out of Chicago.
Our favorite place to stay when we want to visit our daughter at Concordia University Chicago. This is a lovely, warm, welcoming home. The gardens are a delight to see! And the Paytons make us feel as if we are staying with family. Highly recommend!
Thanks, Anya! We loved having you with us for a year. Blessings in your new life as a pastor’s wife and mama! Glad you’re putting the Family Cookbook to good use. Love you!
Thank you for your lovely comments, Michael! We greatly enjoyed your visit, as well, and look forward to your next trip to the Windy City! Soon-I hope.
Lori and Pr. Payton are warm and welcoming hosts, and our week-long stay at their place was wonderful. We were traveling with our four children, and had full use of the spacious basement room. It was a perfect size for us. Lori explained the best way to get around the city with the L, and recommended sites we could visit with the kids. We were blessed by the Payton’s hospitality, and we especially enjoyed the in-depth conversations with them in the evenings. They even surprised us with wine and cheese! You won’t find anything like this on AirBnb. Highly recommended for your stay in the Chicago area!
I lived with these people for a year during college, and hosting is definitely their thing. The house is clean and inviting, Mrs. is a great cook, and Rev. is a fantastic gardener. It is located within walking distance of the BNSF Metra into Chicago as well as an LCMS church.
Thank you Dorothy!
